Links
Links to other sites on the Web are almost infinite, so much so
that at times they can be frustratingly difficult to find or to
move around the Web. Some people want only a superficial amount of
material on a medical problem while others insist on a great deal
of depth and search. The following guidelines then will try to
move a person to areas of their own interest. As any Web traveler
will know, almost every site has links to other sites. For those
who want a leisurely travel through the many seas and harbors and
have lots of time, nothing beats surfing the Web. For most people,
it is important to stay focused on what subject they want and not
become distracted by the many currents and tides that can sweep
you to destinations never intended.

University Medical Centers
Virtually every medical center in the country has a web page and
within that page gastroenterology educational topics can often be
found. To find a specific university medical center, go to the
Search or Find panel of your web page and type in the university's
name. You can also telephone that university's information desk
and ask for their web site address. You may find general GI
information for the public on a variety of disorders. You will
usually also find that an institution will list their areas of GI
research interest. Some patients are interested in participating
in research projects. You can also try a non- profit organization
site which often will know where specific research projects are
occurring.
Professional Organizations
The following organizations primarily serve health care providers
such as physicians and nurses. However, within each there is
