		Benign Tumors of the Stomach Image 1 Leiomyoma This is a benign tumor within the lining of the stomach. The tumor actually arises from the muscle within the stomach wall. While the tumor is usually benign, it can hemorrhage from the top. In fact, that was why this tumor was removed. Rarely, the tumor can become malignant in which case it is called a sarcoma.
