Duodenal Diverticulum
A diverticulum is a pocket projecting away from the bowel wall. Most occur in the colon or large bowel. However, they may occur anywhere, even the duodenum. In Image 1 just inside the first portion of the duodenum called the cap, you see the mouth of this diverticulum. The normal duodenum proceeds through the opening on the right. Most diverticulum cause no problems and do not need treated.
